Restores health to intestinal tract

Restores health to the intestinal villi

Acetic acid, gluconic acid and the micronutrients in KefiActive™ Kombucha acting synergistically, can restore the intestinal villi of the small and large intestines. This regeneration can begin in 5-6 days. When the villi are restored to their healthy state, the nutrients can then be readily digested (into their aglycone form) by the enzymes normally excreted by the tips of healthy villi. This renewal of the intestinal walls improves the intestinal barrier so that pathogens and undigested nutrients can not permeate it and eliminates leaky gut.

When the nutrients are in their optimal digested form (Aglycone) complete absorption and assimilation occurs through the gut walls. Allergic reactions (due to the assimilation of undigested molecules) and inflammation in the body disappear when nutrients in their optimal digested form are presented to the body for absorption through the wall of the intestines and into the blood. When healthy digestion is restored the immune cells are stimulated.

Enhances the growth of friendly bacteria

The "probiotic effect"

The synergy of the actives in KefiActive™ Kombucha and the environment they create is commonly recognized to have a "probiotic effect" on the body. KefiActive™ Kombucha rebalances the intestinal flora, rebuilds the intestinal mucosa and increases peristalsis. This probiotic effect is characterized by an improvement in overall health and improved immunity.

First, the growth of friendly bacteria is promoted by the right balanced pH that is achieved due to the organic acids present.

Second, this same low pH created by the organic acids has been proven to eliminate pathogenic organisms in the stomach and the intestines such as Candida and Helicobacter pylori in the stomach (that interferes with digestion and is recognized as a cause of ulcers and cancer). While bacteria indigenous to the intestinal tract flourish, competing harmful pathogenic bacteria are diminished as the biofilm (the outer lining of their cells) is destroyed in low pH.

Third, the prebiotics present in the polysaccharides from the tea stimulate the growth of probiotic bacteria in the gut.

KefiActive™ does contain some friendly bacteria. However what is important is that the actives promote the healing of the gut, help to create an optimal environment for beneficial bacteria to flourish and to repopulate the intestines. As well, it stimulates peristalsis.

Note: Supplementing with a probiotic supplement containing beneficial strains of friendly bacteria may in the short term (if the probiotics survive the stomach acid bath) restore some balance to the intestinal tract. However long term the whole environment in the gut must be restored to sustain a healthy balance of flora.

Inhibits the growth of pathogenic bacteria, yeasts, fungus and moulds

Provides an antimicrobial environment

KefiActive™ Kombucha is considered antimicrobial and antifungal due to the synergy of the organic acids, biocides (bactericides and fungicide) and polysaccharides. Particularly, the organic acids contribute to the antimicrobial properties due to the low pH (< 3.5) and the non-dissociative (without liberation of hydrogen ion) form of organic acids (pKa < pH).

Some yeasts are destroyed in the presence of a Killer Protein produced by the yeast in KefiActive™ Kombucha thus having an antifungal effect.

Note Candida concern: The yeasts present in KefiActive™ Kombucha do not have spores and they are not in the Candida family of yeasts. KefiActive™ is therefore antagonistic to the troublesome yeasts that infect so many people. Fission yeasts in Kombucha reproduce by means of fission-like bacteria as they belong to Saccharomyces pombe type of yeasts and are beneficial and help to overcome Candida.
