Provide bioavailable micronutrients, phytocompounds and antioxidants

KefiActive™ floods the body with micronutrients, phytocompounds and antioxidants created or transformed during the fermentation process. It is important to note that it also enhances the absorption of minerals and vitamins.

Organics Acids

Acetic acid supports digestion in several ways as it stimulates the amygdales and hypothalamus glands, these glands in turn stimulate the secretion of digestive enzymes. As well acetic acid stimulates the metabolism and catabolises the lipids and proteins and thus facilitates the work of the digestive system. Finally it controls metabolic processes, has antibacterial properties and consequently improves immunity.

Succinic acid balances the pH (acid-base balance) in the body caused by physical, emotional and psychological stress thus preventing acidosis. It strengthens the entire body by improving cell function and cell energy. It also strengthens the cell to fight against pathogenic agents and allergens and thus improves immunity.

Gluconic acid improves the absorption of minerals as it converts minerals into their gluconate form. It detoxifies and makes toxins soluble for elimination. The gluconic acid is also metabolized by the liver into glucuronic acid (not naturally occurring in Kombucha) which is a major detoxifier.

Gulonic acid is a precursor of vitamin C. This means that this compound is transformed into ascorbic acid (vitamin C) in the body. Vitamin C assists with the absorption of oxidized minerals in particular iron, calcium and magnesium.

Synergistic action: These organic acids working together are more powerful than their individual effect. When toxins are removed from the organs, acid balance restored, vitamins and minerals absorbed, beneficial bacteria’s growth enhanced and competing pathogenic bacteria eliminated or weakened, then the body is energized, rejuvenated and revitalized.

Vitamins & Minerals

B Vitamins that are produced during the fermentation of the black tea are B1, B2, B6 and B12. These B vitamins provide energy to the body and help to metabolize fats and proteins fully.

Note: The body easily assimilates vitamin B12, required for the production of red blood cells. KefiActive™ Kombucha stimulates the production of the "intrinsic factor" (IF) which is a glycoprotein produced by the parietal cells of the stomach. The Intrinsic factor has an optimum activity at pH 7. Gastric juice (low pH) has no effect on IF. In the less acidic environment of the small intestine, vitamin B12 can then bind to intrinsic factor. This complex travels to the ileum (part of the small intestine), where special epithelial cells endocytose them. Inside the cell, B12 dissociates once again and binds to another protein, transcobalamin II. The new complex can then exit the epithelial cells to enter the liver.

Vitamin C in its bioavailable form is created by the gulonic acid in the body. Vitamin C is an antioxidant required for over 300 metabolic functions in the body, some of which are tissue growth, adrenal gland function and healthy gums.

Minerals naturally present in Kombucha are not present in significant amounts. However what is significant is that when Kombucha is consumed with a food or a supplement containing minerals such as calcium, magnesium and iron, it will increase their bioavailability and absorption. It can be recommended for women during the time of menses. As well it is important for pre and postmenopausal women as it improves the absorption of calcium and magnesium.

Note: Iron is an essential element and a deficiency can create anaemia and fatigue. Iron deficiency maybe created by low intake (weight control regimens, vegetarianism, intense sports), reduced absorption from drug intake (antacids, antibiotics) or certain diseases (cancer, Crohns, allergies).

The Low pH of Kombucha due to the organic acids promotes the absorption of minerals by changing these minerals into their gluconate forms. Iron for example is transformed from Iron (III) into Iron (II) the gluconate form. This form of minerals is the best form for absorption.

Enzymes

Enzymes are produced by the symbiotic microorganisms in KefiActive™ Kombucha. These enzymes, (glycohydrolase, lipases and proteases) assist in the digestion of fats and lipids. Moreover, the secretion of digestive enzymes is stimulated after consuming Kombucha. KefiActive™ Kombucha could have an enzyme effect on the body.

Antioxidants

Bioavailable polyphenols (theaflavin and thearubigin) provide the body with a greater opportunity to reduce oxidized molecules and thus may reduce the risk of degenerative diseases. The fermentation transforms the antioxidants into their bioavailable form and converts the theaflavin into thearubigin, a much more powerful antioxidant. The antioxidant protection offered is exponentially more than those then is available from green tea.

Amino acids

Amino acids are produced in KefiActive™ Kombucha especially tryptophan which is involved in the metabolism of proteins in the body. Tryptophan present in KefiActive™ Kombucha in particular supports the body in combating stress.

Theanine is available after the fermentation in it bioavailable form. It has been shown to stimulate alpha-brain wave activity which is associated with a relaxed state of mind. Theanine also helps to focus on the task at hand and stops the mind racing, promoting a better sleep. As well the antioxidant activity of L-theanine has been studied in regard to its effect on the oxidation of LDL cholesterol and some studies have shown that L-theanine may lower blood pressure.
